The Wesleyan Church
The Bible makes it clear that it's important for every Christian to be connected to other believers.
The writer of Hebrews said,
"Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another
- and all the more as you see the Day approaching" (Hebrews 10:25).
At that time, it cost something for believers to gather publicly.
The church was under severe persecution,
and Christians faced the possibility that they might be imprisoned
or have their property confiscated simply for participating in Christian worship.
Yet they did meet together. Why?
Why is the church so important that early believers would risk their lives just to belong?
The church was a vital point of connection for believers then as it is now.
It was the place where they heard the apostles' teaching, experienced fellowship,
received the sacraments, and prayed together.
Those early believers discovered that these were benefits they simply couldn't live without.
Neither can we!
The church is still a vital point of connection for all Christians.
It's where we worship together, grow in the faith, and find the strength to continue our spiritual journey.
We need each other.
We need the Church.
